    Questions & Answers:

    Who can drive the watercraft?

If the driver was born before 1-1-1989 then they automatically have their boater license.  Persons born after 1-1-1989 need a Boater Safety Certificate to drive the watercraft.  Those people have three options: Temporary License, Permanent License, or ”On The Dock Test”.

    (1) Temporary Boater License (30 mins): CLICK HERE

    (2) Permanent Boater License (5+ hours): CLICK HERE

    (3) “On The Dock Test” (40 mins): Take a written test upon arrival at the dock and pass with a 80% or higher score.

Can we hire someone to drive us?

YES!  All of our workers are available to drive the Deck Boat or one of our Pontoon Boats.  All of our workers are friendly and knowledgable and would love to show you a good time on the greatest lake in Wisconsin!  Cost is an extra $50/hour for your own personal driver.

Can you bring your own food and drinks along on the watercraft?

YES!  You can bring along your own food and drinks.  You also may bring a cooler(s).

Do you offer fishing rods, paddle boards, kayaks, Tubes, Tow Ropes, Water Skis, etc.?

If you need special equipment please contact Brad at 920-948-4900.

Anyone else rent watercraft on Lake Winnebago?

No one else rents any motorized watercraft on Lake Winnebago.  That means we are the only place that rents boats with motors on Lake Winnebago!

Can you bring pets on the Pontoon or WaveRunner?

No dogs or pets unless you get special permission in writing from Brad at Lake Winnebago Boat Rentals.  If approved charge is $50/dog for small dogs (under 20 pounds) or $100/dog for large dogs (over 20 pounds).

How will I know how to work the watercraft?

Our knowledgeable workers will meet you at the dock and show you how to work everything before you go out.

Will there be someone at the dock when I return?

We always like to be at the dock when you return.  Our workers can help you park and tie up the watercraft.  You can contact our staff for a question or early/late return:

    Brad (920) 948-4900,

    What about gas?

Each renter is required to pay for fuel.  Each watercraft leaves the dock with a full tank of fuel.  Upon completion of your rental you may use the Lakeside Park Marina for gas (pay them directly) or you may elect to pay our staff to fill up the watercraft upon your return.  We charge $50 per quarter of gas used on the Boats.

Where can I get gas on the lake?

You can get fuel at the Lakeside Park Marina. It is located less then one mile away from where our watercraft are docked.

The Harbormaster will help you fill up the watercraft and you pay them directly.  Here are their hours:

    Friday 11AM-8PM

    Saturday 9AM-8PM

    Sunday 9AM-6PM

    Monday 3PM-7PM

    Tuesday 3PM-7PM

    Wednesday 3PM-7PM

    Thursday 3PM-7PM

*Weather Permitting.  Call Harbormaster Gas Station directly at (920) 906-5096 or after hours at

    (920) 948-9465

Is there any paperwork to do?

We are completely paperless!  After you Reserve and Pay for your Watercraft on this website the final step we require is for the driver of the watercraft to complete our Online Waiver.  Click here to complete this Online Waiver.  DO NO COME TO THE DOCK WITHOUT DOING THE WAIVER.  ALL BOAT RENTALS NEED A COMPLETED ONLINE WAIVER.

I work at Mercury Marine. Do I get the discount?

Mercury Marine employees get a $200 reimbursement from their employer on any watercraft rented that has a Mercury Outboard Motor. Our pontoon rental boats and our Deck Boat all have Mercury Marine Engines so it qualifies for that reimbursements. This is a generous employee perk and we are thankful Mercury Marine does this for their employees!

Is renting a Boat or WaveRunner expensive?

NO!  Renting a boat for the few times a summer you would use one is not expensive.  In fact is financially a smart move if you think about all the money you save.  When renting you do not need to buy your own boat, maintain your own boat, store your own boat, buy a trailer for your own boat, put insurance on your own boat, etc.

Our rental company takes all the hassle out of the typical boating experience.

How much does it cost to rent a Boat or WaveRunner

Your price depends on how many total hours you take the watercraft.  The longer you rent the better the deal for you.  For example, our 8 hour Pontoon Rental is $680.  That breaks down to only  $85/hour.  On our 14 Passenger Pontoon Boat that is only $6.07 per person per hour!

    What are your hours?

We are by appointment only.  Simply reserve and pay for your watercraft on this website and our friendly staff will meet you at the dock.

How do I know what is available?

All bookings can be done online.  Here are the steps:

    • (1) Choose your watercraft (Pontoon or DeckBoat) and duration you want to be on the water.
    • Select the Date you want to go.
    • Select the time you want to leave the dock.
    • Put in your basic information and pay for the rental.
    • Arrive to the dock about 10 minutes early (45 minutes early if you need to get a boater safety license for our staff) to get instructions and place your belongings on the dock.
    • Enjoy Lake Winnebago!

    What should I bring along?

That depends, but here is a few things we see our renters bring:

    • Sunscreen
    • Sunglasses
    • Credit Card & Cash & Driver License
    • Cell Phone and charger
    • Fishing Poles & Tackle Box
    • Cooler with food and drinks
    • Life Jacket (we do, however, provide life jackets)
    • Blankets (sunset cruise)

How will I find my way back to the dock?

Ask your smartphone for directions to Lake Winnebago Boat Rentals.  Another way is to ask for directions to Shmitty's Bar & Grill since our dock is next to their restaurant.

How will I find my way to my lake destination?

Use your smartphone for directions.  Then navigate on the water to your destination.

When we arrive to the dock where should we park?

Please park by the dock to drop off guests and place your belongings.  Then please park on the grassy field across the street from the restaurant.

Do your dock workers accept tips?

Tips are appreciated, but only accepted when there is exceptional service!

What happens if I have boat troubles on the lake?

Call us immediately.  If we need to find you on the water please drop us a pin of your location.  That can be done by saying "Hey Siri.....What's my location?"  That will give you a location on the lake you can text to our staff.

    Brad (920-948-4900)

    Cullen (920-970-9494)

    Jax (920-579-4934)

    Zander (920-375-6921)

There is so much to do!  Dock the boat at Lakeside Park to climb the Lighthouse. Go to Rosevelt Park to experience the sand bar.  Drive up to Columbia Park to climb the Observation Tower. Many excellent bar and restaurant. Lots of outdoor live bands.
